Displaying Your Guitar
Let's face it, all of us who have spent large sums of money on our guitars would rather see them, than have them tucked away in the case buried in the closet or under the bed. For years, collectors have been concerned with the question about hanging your guitar on a hanger by the neck, and whether or not it will hurt it. Out in the open, where the temperature changes are frequent, there may be that possibility to a degree. In a display case that provides a good door seal, with minimal fluctuations in temperature, we find it to be very safe. It allows you to view your investment without damage concerns. One of the key issues is using a solid hanging system that contains a material that is both Nitro and Ester friendly. This will help prevent permanent staining or marking on the neck. We have installed String Swing hangers from day one, because they are strong and they guarantee the rubber product will not stain the finish. We also bolt our hangers through the backing to prevent screws from pulling out of the wood. Many of our customers have complimented us on the humidity level that is maintained inside of the case with our door design. This design provides a very good seal. BandMate USA™ will not install lighting in our cases or even offer it as an option, due to the heat that most of them emit. The potential to damage the finish is very high, and we do not want to take the risk. Generally an exterior picture style light would work best, or if you are setting up a new area or studio, installing adjustable can or track lighting would be the superior way to go. We have yet to find a small efficient LED light that provides enough power to light up the interior. We value our customers and their suggestions or ideas very much, as well as our own experiences. For many years I have displayed my guitars using neck hangers, yes my expensive Gibsons, Gretsches etc., and never had any problems with twisted or warped necks. You will find that guitars that have suffered such damage have been attic stored, or stored where the temperature has had extreme fluctuations. I invented the Guitar Sling™ Horizontal Hangers to help solve the solution of safely hanging a guitar horizontally, without intruding on the looks of the guitar itself. This method has become very popular, and it is very safe to use. They are your guitars, so trust your own judgement when mounting them on the wall.
